Economy value stock skips those extras for a lower cost per check — a reasonable trade when volume matters more than fraud protection.

In most cases, yes. The routing and account numbers along the bottom of a check are read magnetically, which requires magnetic (MICR) toner. Some banks accept checks printed with standard toner, but MICR is the safe default — confirm with your bank before your first run.
